What can a women’s v neck sweater do for you?

V neck tops for women can do wonders for your figure.  They can help slim you down, elongate your neck, and keep you warm all at once!  If you have a heavy upper body, a short waist, or a thick waist it can make your torso appear longer visually.

In order to reap the benefits of learning how to wear a v neck sweater, women should read the rest of this post.  A long v neck sweater can help expose your feminine side and it’s easy to find cheap v neck sweaters in all shapes and styles at Fashiondoxy.com.  At Fashiondoxy.com you can find anything from a women’s sweater vest v neck to a double v neck sweater.

Another great benefit to a ladies v neck sweater is that it is very flattering to your chest.  Whether you are small or large busted, you can always find the perfect long sleeve v neck sweater to show off as much or as little as you wish, it’s all in how you choose to wear it.  Wear a deep beige v neck sweater by itself with a push up bra and show as much cleavage as you want or wear a camisole under it to keep yourself completely covered without sacrificing the style of the v neck.

A v neck women’s sweater also helps flatter the shape of your face.  If you have a round or wide face it really helps visually reduce how you look.  It can also help if you have a saggy or double chin.

As mentioned above, Fashiondoxy.com is a great place to find the perfect low v neck sweater to show off your bust.  For example, the Cecile V Neck Cashmere Sweater women’s by Equipment is perfect if you have a large bust but don’t want to show much cleavage, if any.  This is a loose fitting sweater which will allow extra room for a busty lady.

V neck sweater fashion: how to layer

V neck sweaters are simple to layer or look great on their own.  Since these tops are so versatile you may not know where to begin!  That is why we will examine some of the best and easiest ways to layer a v neck.

First, you can layer a v neck shirt with v neck sweater.  You can wear a regular cut v neck sweater with a white t shirt under v neck sweater or a v neck shirt under. The t shirt with v neck sweater will give you that layered look, while the v neck shirt neckline will remain unseen.

While the v neck sweater and tshirt might be a little vanilla, a pretty camisole will look great instead especially if it is in a nice fabric.  A printed camisole will look great under a solid color v neck sweater.  As an example, a teal v neck sweater would look very cute with a nice floral printed camisole in the early spring.  Ware the same floral camisole with a women’s yellow v neck sweater on Easter Sunday with a nice white skirt and flats for an adorable classy look.

For work, try some cute v neck sweaters over a button down shirt.  You can leave the shirt untucked or tuck it in, leave the cuffs of the shirt poking out and rolled up and you’re in a work appropriate outfit when you pair with a pencil skirt and heels.

How about times you have those thin lightweight v neck sweaters that look unflattering when your bra and bra straps are thick and the outline is visible?  A low cut camisole with wide straps that cover your bra straps will help minimize this issue.

Now that you’ve layered under how about layer over?  Some of the really nice v neck cashmere sweaters for women go great under a blazer.

Well, that’s all for now have fun, all you v neck sweater ladies out there!

Find the best fitting turtleneck sweater for your body

Unless you’re a teenager hiding your neck from a night of unbridled passion with your boyfriend in the back seat of his mom’s car then what good is a turtleneck right?  Wrong!  Sure turtlenecks are the instant go to garment to cover up an embarrassment however that’s not the only reason to buy one.

Other than the warmth and comfort a short sleeve turtleneck sweater can provide, they can also be flattering to your figure.  If you have a large bust you’ll definitely want to wear a form fitting for style.  Not everyone can handle a turtleneck though as they tend to be constraining however; you can find a nice loose fitting turtleneck in a cowl style if you are picky about having something around your neck.

A cropped turtleneck sweater fits a smaller busted woman best.  A large bust may actually pull the bottom hem out on a cropped sweater revealing your midriff which is a look you may not like and isn’t all that flattering.  Still though, you can layer it over a tucked in solid color camisole and it will look fine.  This is because when you shorten the length of a top you make it look wider than it really should.  True, some busty women may want to look even bustier however; you don’t want to look like you’re nothing but boobs and waist.

As I mentioned earlier, the cowl wool turtleneck is ideal for those who don’t like a tight or snug collar.  The cowl turtleneck is great for large busted women.  This style has a relaxed drape which helps enhance your bust.  These often don’t have a defined waist and are a straight fit cut that can be remedied with a skinny belt to define your waist. You’ll want to find one that drapes close to your body such as the Estee sweater by Soft Joie at Fashiondoxy.com.  This oatmeal colored sweater turtleneck would look amazing with a skinny belt to help show your waistline.

Find the best turtleneck sweater for your bust

Now, you may be wondering what the title of this post is about.  Not all turtlenecks are designed for busty or small busted women and we will examine some of the do’s, don’ts, and how’s to look great in a turtleneck regardless of bust size.

Large Bust:
Busty women should avoid a cropped sleeveless turtleneck sweater.  This is because the bulk a cropped top can add to your body may make you look bustier than you really are which isn’t always a good thing.  Why?  Why would you want to look like a walking pair of boobs down the street?  You want people to notice our style and flare, not just your chest.  Consider a longer length turtleneck to help balance out your top and torso.

You also want to avoid a chunky turtleneck sweater because they can make you look boxy and wide.  This is because the chunkiness of the sweater itself is simply not designed for large busted women to look good in, it does nothing for your figure so I recommend staying away from it entirely.  If you do however choose to find a chunky turtleneck, you’ll want to find a long one to help elongate your body.

Small Bust:

If you are a small busted lady you can wear just about anything.  A chunky turtleneck is fine but you may want to look for one with a short fold-over neck.  This has nothing to do with your bust however; the thickness of a chunky turtleneck may look too bulky when you add a high neckline.  The skinny rib turtleneck by Vince at Fashiondoxy.com is perfect for a small busted woman.  It is slim fit and will show off your curves for a thin body.  If you are not so thin but have a small bust you’ll want to try something like the Side Zip Rib Turtleneck Sweater also by Vince.  This turtleneck has a more relaxed fit and won’t hug your curves as much.  Plus, look at the adorable side zip!

How to care for your turtleneck sweater

A nice ribbed turtleneck sweater requires special care and treatment.  After all, this isn’t your run of the mill sweatshirt where you can wash, tumble dry, and throw on your shelf.  Off white turtleneck sweaters need to be cared for differently than a women’s navy turtleneck sweater?  Why? Color is the main reason but also consider the style of weave and fabric.  With cotton turtleneck sweaters, women can usually be a little rougher on them.  With cashmere turtleneck sweaters, women should treat a little more delicately otherwise they will pill and fuzz.

As with anything else make sure you follow the label but feel free to improvise a bit.  If the label on your soft turtleneck sweaters says to machine wash cold, put them in the gentle cycle with similar clothing.  Don’t wash them with pants or jeans that contain rivets and zippers that may snag the material on your favorite Eileen Fisher turtleneck sweater.  Better yet, gently wash it by hand with a mild detergent such as Woolite.

It seems that no matter the price you paid, an expensive Ralph Lauren ribbed turtleneck sweater will pill and fuzz just as badly as a cheap men’s merino turtleneck sweater.  Why?  Fabrics don’t discriminate.  A fancy label and fancy logo don’t take away from the fact that all sweaters are vulnerable to wear and tear whether it’s a $100 high turtleneck sweater made of lambswool or a $500 tall turtleneck sweater made of cashmere.

This doesn’t mean all sweaters will pill and fuzz, some will more than others but that’s due to the milling process, quality of fabric, and number of plies or how tight the weave is.  Pills form when the fibers in a sweater break or get loose when the ends are exposed and become tangled.

So what can you do to prevent this?  You can extend the life of your sweater by caring for it while wearing it.  Pills and fuzz accumulate due to the friction and rubbing of a car seat belt, shoulder bag, etc.  So, simply put be a little more careful when you wear your sweaters.  Don’t throw that shoulder strap over your shoulder, carry it in your hand instead.  If you can find some, get a padded seatbelt strap to relieve some of the pressure off your sweater from the belt.

How to look great in a turtleneck sweater

In another post we explained a few of the ways you can style and dress up a women’s turtleneck.  In this post we did a little deeper and explore a few other ways you can turn a boring turtleneck into a great outfit.

You can easily transform a white turtleneck sweater into numerous looks.  You can modernize the style of a classic chunky turtleneck sweater with a scarf, belt, jewelry, bags, and boots just maybe not all at once.  A chunky turtleneck is fine on its own however, you can add a bit of style to it with a thick belt around your waist if it is long enough to be a dress but not quite long enough to wear without leggings.

Dressing up a cashmere turtleneck sweater has a fine line between looking plain and boring and an overly excited fashionista.  The trick is to experiment a little bit by tucking it into a pair of slacks, wearing a snake print or leopard print heel, and a statement necklace.  That’s about it, don’t overdo it with earrings or bracelets.

For special occasions you can easily dress up a short sleeve turtleneck with a leather skirt, lace tights, and booties.  You may wish to add a necklace and earrings with this look as well.

When going for a casual look, layer a long sleeve merino wool turtleneck with a shawl vest, boyfriend jeans, and knee-high boots.  Feel free to add a cuff bracelet and earrings as well.

As far as neckwear with a turtleneck you can dress it up a bit with a necklace or scarf.  Beaded or pearl necklaces work well, print or patterned scarves with a solid color chunky turtleneck are fine.

Belts really help define your waist.  If you can find a grey turtleneck sweater dress, definitely go with a belt!  This will help break up the straight fit and help you show off your figure.

How to shop for a quality turtleneck sweater

Its winter and that means a cold wind is in the air, the holidays are here, days are shorter, nights are longer, and turtlenecks for women are everywhere!  While it’s true you can find these sweater types everywhere from small to big box retail stores.  However; you should be cautious in spending too much for a low grade turtleneck.  This guide will help give you some tips on what to look for when shopping for women’s turtlenecks.

A turtleneck knit sweater comes in a wide variety of fabrics and styles.  First off we’ll examine the king of all sweaters, the cashmere turtleneck!  First off it’s a good rule of thumb to know that cheap turtlenecks aren’t good and good turtlenecks aren’t cheap.  This doesn’t mean you have to spend hundreds or thousands on a good quality turtleneck.

There are a couple of things you should do when shopping for a cashmere turtleneck.  First, check the label to see how many plies it is made out of.  2 ply is good, 3 and 4 are best.  A one ply sweater will pill and fuzz and fall apart over time and it may only last you one season.  You want to make sure you’re buying quality.  Next, do the hand test.  Put your hand under the sweater and if you can see it then put it back.

A cable knit turtleneck sweater such as the one by Autumn Cashmere at Fashiondoxy.com will have a mixed knit weave and open side vents.  Make sure you inspect the knit for any flaws.  Remember, it only takes one snowflake to start an avalanche and you don’t want that in a sweater.

Next, inspect the care of the sweater and make sure you follow the instructions when you get it home.  Clothing almost never comes with a warranty so if you buy a poor quality sweater that falls apart on you after one season you’ll have wasted your money.  You can rest assured Fashiondoxy.com sells nothing but the highest quality in cashmere turtleneck sweaters.

How to style a women’s turtleneck sweater

Don’t go with the plain Jane look of wearing a turtleneck with jeans or dress pants.  However; there’s nothing wrong with that but there are several other ways you can dress up women’s turtlenecks.

First off don’t wear it by itself.  Think of a turtleneck as an ice cream sundae.  You have your vanilla scoops, which is your turtleneck, then you add bananas (leggings), chocolate syrup (necklace), and strawberry syrup (ankle boots), topped off by whipped cream and a cheery (earrings and pinned up hair).  Before you know it you have dressed up your plain vanilla white turtleneck to be a gorgeous outfit!

So what’s next?  Well, if you want to wear a white turtleneck sweater to work, you can add a skinny belt and add a classy pearl necklace.  You can also layer a blazer over a black sleeveless turtleneck for a professional look without overheating your arms.

Fashiondoxy.com has several to choose from.  Perhaps you are in college, the possibilities are endless.  A pink turtleneck sweater such as the Leala by Club Monaco is perfect for a nice casual cup of coffee on campus, in class, or wherever.  The Leala has ribbed edges, long sleeves, and chunky cable stripes to add a charming texture to the cropped turtleneck sweater.

Next, change it up a bit by finding a great form fitting turtleneck sweater with a leather skirt.  Take a look at the skinny ribbed turtleneck sweater by Vince.  The model wears it with slacks however; you can pair it up with a skirt and give it a bit of style.  You would want to pin your hair up so it doesn’t look like you don’t have a neck.  This is perfect for adding a nice statement necklace, a black clutch, and black pointed tip heels.

There’s nothing wrong with wearing a beautiful Ralph Lauren turtleneck with a suit.  Add a feminine flair to it with heels and you are ready for that next business meeting.

Style guide for the women’s turtleneck sweater

Turtleneck sweaters are one of the essentials of an adequate winter wardrobe unless you live in a tropical climate.  A ribbed turtleneck is very versatile, you can wear it throughout the winter.  This chic piece can be worn layered under a nice blazer for a classy look or by itself with slacks.  You can also layer it under a vest or v neck cardigan.  The following examines a few ways you can style up a turtleneck sweater.

A black turtleneck is great for showcasing your accessories.  Gold and silver necklaces will really stand out.  Wear your hair up and sport your favorite earrings or add a great scarf and you have a complete outfit using a turtleneck sweater as your foundation.

When buying a turtleneck, women should make sure to find one that fits their body and that they feel comfortable in.  Turtlenecks can be form fitting so if you don’t want to show off all your curves, a turtleneck drape tunic might be for you.  Check out the drape tunic by Susana Monaco at Fashiondoxy.com.  This cute long turtleneck sweater has a flared hem which creates a flirty drape.  In order to balance out the look you should wear skinny jeans or leggings.  Loose fitting jeans or slacks will make this grey turtleneck sweater look a bit frumpy.

Another bit of advice about women’s turtleneck sweaters is to find them in nice neutral colors.  A cream turtleneck sweater goes with almost anything as well as a navy blue turtleneck sweater.  Your greys, dark blues, white, and brown wool turtleneck sweater will be a perfect fit for the fall.

A women’s turtleneck is great for flattering your face.  If you have a round or wide face, the turtleneck will help shorten your neck and face which will center the focus around the shape of your face without your neck being in the way.  This is why pinning your hair up is best so your hair, neck, and sweater don’t all blend in as one.

The quick guide for turtleneck sweater shopping: fabric and fit

When shopping for a great knit turtleneck sweater you should be aware of the different fabrics and fits out there.

One of the most important and first things you probably want to look for in ribbed turtleneck sweaters is the fabric.  Most come in wool, cashmere, and blends.  If you find one that is too light, you should layer it otherwise you’ll feel the chill in the air.  Too thick and you’ll think its more of a sauna suit than a sweater.  90% of the time natural fabrics are the best route to take.  They will feel, fit, and look better as well as last you much longer than synthetics will.

Wool:  Lambswool is probably the most common fabric you’ll find in women’s turtlenecks.  Merino wool is another common wool that offers warmth and comfort.  Shetland wool is one of the roughest, itchiest wools you can find so unless you layer it over a long sleeved shirt you’ll be itching all day long.  Women with sensitive skin should avoid Shetland wool altogether.

Blends:  Depending on the weave, blended sweaters may either be lighter and cooler or thicker and heavier than an equivalent sweater in a natural fiber.  A cashmere/silk blend can make for a nice classy look depending on what you wear with it.  You can dress it up with a nice subtle necklace and earrings with your hair pined up.

Cashmere:  The pinnacle of sweaters is cashmere.  Cashmere turtleneck sweaters for women are chic and stylish and the envy of all other garments in your closet.  The price tag for cashmere is often quite high due to the intensive labor that goes into refining the material.

Fit:  Determining the proper fit of a turtleneck sweater depends on your bust.  Always start with your bust when selecting a turtleneck because it will make the difference between looking too large and looking too short.  Large busted women should stay away from cropped or a chunky knit turtleneck sweater and opt for a drape style instead.  Small busted women should go for something formfitting or loose.

What every woman of different body shapes should know about the turtleneck sweater

First off, the classic, mock, and cowl neckline are the three common types a women’s turtleneck sweater will come in.  Unlike crewneck, v neck, pullover, cardigan, and vests, the turtleneck has a unique style all its own.

A turtleneck sweater is perfect for the coldest of days because it will keep your neck warm with an extra layer of thickness.  You can still wear a scarf over your turtleneck if you wish and it will look great.

Women in turtlenecks with strong shoulders look good because the turtleneck itself will help give you a wider look with a brighter color. If you want to tone it down in shoulder town then go with a dark turtleneck sweater or a busy print with a skirt with a bit of fluff or volume.  In colder weather add a pair of tights to keep your legs warm.  This is a great way to dress if you have an inverted triangle shape because the skirt will help widen you at the bottom and balance out your shoulders.

If you are a pear shaped lady, you’ll want to try to find a black cashmere turtleneck with stripes that draw the eyes up toward the top.  Add a statement necklace, pin up your hair, and put a pair of earrings on to help.

For an apple shaped figure you’ll want to find a turtleneck sweater that helps flatter your figure instead of bringing attention to your mid-section.  You’ll find that layering a long turtleneck sweater dress leaving the collar and cuffs poke out from under a sleeveless dress or overcoat helps draw more attention to those areas than your torso.

Lastly, if you are a skinny woman the best type of turtleneck sweater you can find are oversized turtleneck sweaters. A nice navy turtleneck sweater that is oversized is stylish and trendy.  Wear it with leggings, tights, or tucked into a pair of ripped jeans.  Boots with leggings and heels with jeans and rolled up cuffs looks great on a skinny woman.

A few ways you can pull off a deep v neck sweater

A Calvin Klein v neck sweater, a Burberry v neck sweater, a Rag & Bone v neck sweater, and an Equipment Asher v neck sweater all share one thing in common, they are made with designer labels and designed for winter or spring runways to help give you an idea of what to best pair them up with.

What makes a deep v neck sweater isn’t necessarily the cut but the extra double or triple v neck pattern that makes it appear visually deeper beyond the cut of the neck.  These look great on both men and women and a nice deep boyfriend v neck sweater looks great.

You can wear a loose fitting cable knit v neck sweater, style it with your favorite earrings and necklace and wear it in to work and layer it over a tank and then head out for drinks and dinner after work.

Deep v neck sweaters for women also great with pencil skirts. Pair a black or navy v neck with a nice skirt in any other color, wear it with flats, and earrings and you’re ready for work or school.

The deep v neck sweater pattern with extra Vs look great with ripped boyfriend jeans and heels and a nice medium sized bag.

You can pair a nice set of leggings or skinny jeans with oversized extra-long v neck sweaters and leather booties.  The key in this outfit is the leggings.  If you wear relaxed or loose fit jeans or slacks, you are making it look sloppy.

Finally, don’t forget to wear your layers!  Even if the weather is not too cold, you can always wear pullover v neck sweaters with long overcoats.  Vary the thickness of each layer depending on the temperature.  Obviously you’ll want double thickness if the weather is below freezing or a thinner coat if the weather is cold but not too warm as you might end up getting too hot with the coat.

Fashion advice for dressing up that black v neck sweater in your closet

If you’re like me you have multiple colors of the same top in your closet because you thought you could mix and match them with just about anything.  What about a basic black v neck sweater?  This is one of the most neutral colors you can add to your wardrobe as long as you don’t overdo it.

The easiest thing to do when you get in a sweater rut like me sometimes is take a step back and dig through your jewelry box and see what you can do to add a little extra flare to that black v neck top.  Since black is so versatile I’m not afraid to pair it with a brightly colorful statement necklace with matching earrings and my floral pattern flats.

For a professional look, I will match up my black long sleeve v neck with a pair of nice flat front trousers and layer a thin bright blue blazer with matching heels, and earrings over a white button down collared shirt.

Next, for a more casual look I turn to my jeans.  I have a great pair of skinny blue denim jeans I like to pair with my form fitting black merino v neck.  Now, this merino v neck sweater is boring on its own, that’s why I layer it over a striped camisole.  I finish off the look with a pair of slip on sneakers along with my big purse and sunglasses.

There’s just something about a nice black v neck sweater women look great in.  While it depends on the fabric, weave, and style, you can still pull off for any setting.  School?  Wear your favorite black and green cashmere v neck cardigan over a tank and relaxed fit jeans with sneakers.  Work?  Layer it over a collared shirt or under a blazer.  Cashmere v necksweaters make the perfect foundation for styling in multiple ways for multiple occasions.  Happy hunting!

Finding the right fit when shopping for v neck sweaters

A v neck sweater should fit you correctly.  You don’t want to get an oversized sweater that drapes over your body like a curtain and hides all your best features.  However; you don’t want a slim form fitting v neck sweater that shoes off more of your curves than you’d like.  This quick buying guide will help you find the best fit for you when shopping for a v neck sweater.

The correct fit will skim over your curves but not hug them.  You should not wear a skin tight v neck sweater, save that for your turtlenecks.  It should not be too baggy either however; because this look is unflattering and does nothing for your figure.

The shoulders on a white v neck sweater should fit perfectly on the outer edge of your shoulder.  The sleeves should fit right as with any other long sleeve top.  A v neck long sleeve shouldn’t be too loose fitting. If you find v neck sweater women’s fabric that stretches too easily or just seems loose around your midsection, you can actually add a belt because this helps really define your waist.

Fabric matters as well.  Cashmere like mine will pill and fuzz over time if I’m not extra careful with it. Any type of wool will eventually fall apart.  The key is preserving them as long as you can.  To do this, keep it in a closed container and throw a couple of cedar balls inside to keep moths away.

Next, a cashmere v neck might not go with everything even if it is black.  I’ve found it to go best with skinny jeans or a pencil skirt.  Footwear doesn’t matter too much as long as its not an old pair of sneakers.  Try to match it with fabrics it goes well with.  A thick cotton blazer might look too overpowering with a soft cashmere sweater.

How many ways can you style women’s v neck sweaters?

There are endless ways to style up a v sweater.  As simple and basic as v neck tops for women are, you can use them as your foundation for a wonderful outfit.  You may have turtlenecks, crewnecks, and cardigans, which are also a great foundation, however; give those a break and check out this quick guide on how stylish a v neck sweater for women can really be.

First, start off with a basic v neck black sweater.  This can be classy when worn with a tan print skirt, shiny heels, a twist pearl necklace, black quilt clutch, and cute earrings and you have an amazing cute look suitable for work or date night with your lucky guy.

Next, take that same v neck black sweater and layer it over a dark green dress. This time wear your snake skin heels, red clutch, and a nice matching necklace.  If the dress has a button down collar then that’s even better because collars work really well with a v sweater

You can also dress down in a v neck sweater with t shirt and an infinity scarf.  Find a scarf with a stripped pattern, throw on some baggy sweats, low top sneakers, and a big bag.  With the scarf you actually hide the v neck and it appears you are wearing a crew neck.  Not that there is anything wrong with a crew neck but if all you have to wear is a v sweater, then the scarf will help give it a casual look.

Are you planning a cruise?  Try an orange v neck sweater, blue shirt with white floral pattern, navy blue shorts, and of course boat shoes.  Of course don’t forget your sunglasses!  The blue shirt should be button down with a collar.  Let the cuffs hang out past the sleeves of your v neck, unbutton them and flip them up and you are definitely ready to set sail

How to wear black v neck cashmere sweaters

When you combine the Cadillac of sweaters with the Cadillac of colors, great things fall into place.  When I was selecting my outfit for the day I realized I am totally one of the black v neck cashmere sweater women who tend to pair anything up with neutral colors.  Now, I am not saying you have to buy cashmere.  In fact, when it comes time to replace mine I am going to search for one in merino wool instead.  Why?  Personal preference, I bought the cashmere one because it was an after season sale.  Though cashmere is very soft, it requires too much maintenance and I hate having a wardrobe that is higher maintenance than I am!

While my v neck sweater is large and loose enough to layer, I make sure to avoid it looking droopy or sloppy by wearing it alone.  The cut of the v should be low enough to show what you are wearing under it.  I always pair mine with any of the camisoles I have.  The cut in mine is much too low to wear by itself as I am a well-endowed woman and my days of showing off the girls are gone and past.

For the most common ways to wear a black v neck sweater, you can’t go wrong with jeans or a skirt.  Feel free to accessorize as you wish, just don’t go overboard.  A nice colorful scarf, cute earrings, and short heels looks great.  You can also choose slacks or a grey pencil skirt and small clutch and you’re ready for the office.

Perhaps you want a splash of color, then go for a brightly colored shirt and matching shoes.  You can go with a pattern or stripped shirt under as well.  The important thing is that it’s all in the shoes.  You match up your under shirt with your shoes and you can wear the black v neck sweater with anything at all.

How to wear v neck sweaters

As a fashion blogger I’m always tasked with researching what looks great, what doesn’t look great, what the latest celebrities are wearing, etc.  One of the most common questions I’m asked by my loyal readers is if a v neck sweater should be layered or if they are good enough on their own.

In my honest humble opinion, I leave it up to you.  Just because I may say to layer a camisole or shirt with v neck sweater doesn’t mean go out and buy a basket of camisoles to wear under your slim v neck sweater.

I only want to give you a few opinions in this post about a standalone charcoal v neck sweater or a v neck sweater and shirt.  First off,  I highly recommend women do not wear a v neck sweater with tie and button down.  Unless you work in a fancy Italian restaurant where women are expected to wear white button downs with ties, avoid this all together.  Perhaps in a navy blue v neck sweater, men would pull this look off without a doubt however, you want to try to go for a more feminine way of layering a v neck sweater.

One factor in deciding to layer or not is the thickness of v neck women’s sweaters.  For a thick cotton v neck sweater, women might want to wear it by itself.  The thickness will keep you warm which is what you’re going for in the first place right?  However, if you have a very nice thin Armani v neck sweater, you may want to layer it over a charming camisole.  Camisoles aren’t as thick as you may think and layering them under a button up v neck sweater (or cardigan) will help give you the desired look.

The bottom line is, whatever you choose to do make sure you find the look you are comfortable in.  After all, it is your look and body not mine nor anybody else’s.  Just make sure to pair up neutral colors and patterns and don’t mix and match.  A stripped v or high neck sweaterfor women will almost never look good with a printed camisole underneath.

Some of the endless ways to rock a v neck seater with jeans

Last Friday at work I saw a couple of women heading into an office with the same basic outfit on, a v neck sweater, jeans, and heels.  For a casual Friday, both women looked acceptable however; one woman layered a button down shirt under hers while the other layered it over a turtleneck.  This got me thinking as to just how versatile v neck sweaters really are so I had to share my thoughts with you on some of the multiple ways you can style up a v neck long sleeve or short sleeve sweater.

When I went on my lunch break I thought up how many simple ways you can add a little flare, dress up, or dress down a sweater v neck.  A v neck sweater is pretty hard to mess up when you wear it with jeans.  The key is in how you layer it and accessorize it.  Just try not to figure out ways to wear a v neck with jeans every day because that can get a little boring.

Since it was Friday I was starting to think of my plans to go shopping with my daughter at the mall over the weekend and about the red v neck sweater I just pulled out of storage.    When I selected the sweater and jeans I was going to wear I decided to go with a pair of flats since I knew I was going to do a lot of walking.  Next I found my favorite statement necklace.  It has been cold lately so I reached for my black scarf and before I knew it I was ready for the mall.

When I got to the mall I found a very nice pair of clean boot cut jeans, a grey v neck cashmere sweater, and matching heels.  I figure this will be perfect for the next casual Friday and I could layer the sweater over a nice white button down shirt.

So, ladies before you think that a black v neck sweater or long sleeve v neck can only be styled up in a limited number of ways you are very wrong.  Experiment with different looks, try them on with different accessorizes in the mirror and go with your instinct in what you are comfortable in wearing when you grab that deep v neck sweater.
