How to look great in a turtleneck sweater

In another post we explained a few of the ways you can style and dress up a women’s turtleneck.  In this post we did a little deeper and explore a few other ways you can turn a boring turtleneck into a great outfit.

You can easily transform a white turtleneck sweater into numerous looks.  You can modernize the style of a classic chunky turtleneck sweater with a scarf, belt, jewelry, bags, and boots just maybe not all at once.  A chunky turtleneck is fine on its own however, you can add a bit of style to it with a thick belt around your waist if it is long enough to be a dress but not quite long enough to wear without leggings.

Dressing up a cashmere turtleneck sweater has a fine line between looking plain and boring and an overly excited fashionista.  The trick is to experiment a little bit by tucking it into a pair of slacks, wearing a snake print or leopard print heel, and a statement necklace.  That’s about it, don’t overdo it with earrings or bracelets.

For special occasions you can easily dress up a short sleeve turtleneck with a leather skirt, lace tights, and booties.  You may wish to add a necklace and earrings with this look as well.

When going for a casual look, layer a long sleeve merino wool turtleneck with a shawl vest, boyfriend jeans, and knee-high boots.  Feel free to add a cuff bracelet and earrings as well.

As far as neckwear with a turtleneck you can dress it up a bit with a necklace or scarf.  Beaded or pearl necklaces work well, print or patterned scarves with a solid color chunky turtleneck are fine.

Belts really help define your waist.  If you can find a grey turtleneck sweater dress, definitely go with a belt!  This will help break up the straight fit and help you show off your figure.
