Style guide for the women’s turtleneck sweater

Turtleneck sweaters are one of the essentials of an adequate winter wardrobe unless you live in a tropical climate.  A ribbed turtleneck is very versatile, you can wear it throughout the winter.  This chic piece can be worn layered under a nice blazer for a classy look or by itself with slacks.  You can also layer it under a vest or v neck cardigan.  The following examines a few ways you can style up a turtleneck sweater.

A black turtleneck is great for showcasing your accessories.  Gold and silver necklaces will really stand out.  Wear your hair up and sport your favorite earrings or add a great scarf and you have a complete outfit using a turtleneck sweater as your foundation.

When buying a turtleneck, women should make sure to find one that fits their body and that they feel comfortable in.  Turtlenecks can be form fitting so if you don’t want to show off all your curves, a turtleneck drape tunic might be for you.  Check out the drape tunic by Susana Monaco at Fashiondoxy.com.  This cute long turtleneck sweater has a flared hem which creates a flirty drape.  In order to balance out the look you should wear skinny jeans or leggings.  Loose fitting jeans or slacks will make this grey turtleneck sweater look a bit frumpy.

Another bit of advice about women’s turtleneck sweaters is to find them in nice neutral colors.  A cream turtleneck sweater goes with almost anything as well as a navy blue turtleneck sweater.  Your greys, dark blues, white, and brown wool turtleneck sweater will be a perfect fit for the fall.

A women’s turtleneck is great for flattering your face.  If you have a round or wide face, the turtleneck will help shorten your neck and face which will center the focus around the shape of your face without your neck being in the way.  This is why pinning your hair up is best so your hair, neck, and sweater don’t all blend in as one.
