As a fashion blogger I’m always tasked with
researching what looks great, what doesn’t look great, what the latest
celebrities are wearing, etc. One of the
most common questions I’m asked by my loyal readers is if a v neck sweater should be layered or if they are good enough on their own.
In my honest humble opinion, I leave it up
to you. Just because I may say to layer
a camisole or shirt with v neck sweater doesn’t mean go out and
buy a basket of camisoles to wear under your slim v neck sweater.
I only want to give you a few opinions in
this post about a standalone charcoal v neck sweater or a v neck sweater and shirt. First off, I highly recommend women do not wear a v neck sweater with tie and button down. Unless you work in a fancy Italian restaurant
where women are expected to wear white button downs with ties, avoid this all
together. Perhaps in a navy blue v neck sweater, men would pull this look off without a doubt
however, you want to try to go for a more feminine way of layering a v neck sweater.
One factor in deciding to layer or not is
the thickness of v neck women’s sweaters. For a thick cotton v neck sweater, women might
want to wear it by itself. The thickness
will keep you warm which is what you’re going for in the first place
right? However, if you have a very nice
thin Armani v neck sweater, you may want to layer
it over a charming camisole. Camisoles
aren’t as thick as you may think and layering them under a button up v neck sweater (or
cardigan) will help give you the desired look.
The bottom line is, whatever you choose to
do make sure you find the look you are comfortable in. After all, it is your look and body not mine
nor anybody else’s. Just make sure to
pair up neutral colors and patterns and don’t mix and match. A stripped v or high neck sweaterfor women will
almost never look good with a printed camisole underneath.
