Fashion advice for dressing up that black v neck sweater in your closet

If you’re like me you have multiple colors of the same top in your closet because you thought you could mix and match them with just about anything.  What about a basic black v neck sweater?  This is one of the most neutral colors you can add to your wardrobe as long as you don’t overdo it.

The easiest thing to do when you get in a sweater rut like me sometimes is take a step back and dig through your jewelry box and see what you can do to add a little extra flare to that black v neck top.  Since black is so versatile I’m not afraid to pair it with a brightly colorful statement necklace with matching earrings and my floral pattern flats.

For a professional look, I will match up my black long sleeve v neck with a pair of nice flat front trousers and layer a thin bright blue blazer with matching heels, and earrings over a white button down collared shirt.

Next, for a more casual look I turn to my jeans.  I have a great pair of skinny blue denim jeans I like to pair with my form fitting black merino v neck.  Now, this merino v neck sweater is boring on its own, that’s why I layer it over a striped camisole.  I finish off the look with a pair of slip on sneakers along with my big purse and sunglasses.

There’s just something about a nice black v neck sweater women look great in.  While it depends on the fabric, weave, and style, you can still pull off for any setting.  School?  Wear your favorite black and green cashmere v neck cardigan over a tank and relaxed fit jeans with sneakers.  Work?  Layer it over a collared shirt or under a blazer.  Cashmere v necksweaters make the perfect foundation for styling in multiple ways for multiple occasions.  Happy hunting!
