How to wear a tunic sweater to match your body shape

In another post we examined the best ways to wear and layer ladies tunic sweaters for triangle, inverted triangle, hourglass, and oval shaped women.  Today we’ll examine a few other body types and what tunic sweaters work for them.

First we’ll examine how full figured ladies can look amazing in a tunic sweater for women.  While you may be plus size, you don’t necessarily have a pear or apple shape.  After all full figure means full figure.  You don’t want anything that fits you like a tent but you don’t want anything so form fitting it makes you feel uncomfortable either.  For full figured ladies it is all about how you balance the tunics that are neither too clingy nor too loose fitting.  Make sure you wear a neckline that exposes your wrists and collar bone as any top with those features can help visually slim you down a bit.  Find a women’s red tunic sweater with a small print and make sure the length fits properly as well.  An asymmetrical tunic sweater fits nicely because it will cover your bottom but not so much your front and have a great front to back balance.

If you have a rectangular shaped body you may have difficulty finding a tunic length sweater to fit.  You will want to add a belt, find a tunic sweater with a tie at the waist, or an empirical waist.  These all help break up your straight figure and add a little curve to it.

As I’ve mentioned in other posts, petites are the true winners of ladies tunic sweaters.  While you may see a disadvantage in other clothing, you’ll fit right in with a tunic.  This is because some tunic sweaters which may be shorter on an average woman, they will fit as they should on you.  Try to avoid large puffy flowing sleeves and empire-waist tunic sweaters as this will make you look much younger than you want.  Instead, try to find a shorter tunic sweater that comes down just above your thighs in front.
