Tunic sweaters originate from ancient Romans and Greeks. These versatile style tops are typically
longer than your average hemline and typically come down past your butt and
hips but above your knee. A long tunic sweater is very cozy and warm in the winter since it covers so much
more of your body than a standard length sweater. Tunics are meant and designed to be layered
and while you can actually find tunic dresses out there, many regular tunics
aren’t meant to be worn alone. The best
way to wear a tunic sweater is with skinny jeans, leggings, or tights. Tights themselves shouldn’t be worn alone
since they are not very flattering to your bottom therefore; the cover up job a
long tunic sweater does is its perfect match up.

You can wear a form fitting tank or
camisole under a tunic sweater and layer a coat or jacket over long sleeve tunic sweaters depending on the weather.
As I’ve mentioned in other posts, tall
women are the most difficult to fit for a tunic sweater. There is a solution however; tall women can
look just as good as the rest of us in a tunic sweater dress. If you’re a woman over 6’ tall, chances are
you can actually pull a tunic sweater dress off as a regular tunic. You’ll still have to wear leggings or skinny
jeans but you’ll find that most normal length tunic sweater dresses are perfect
for your extra height.
I know I have constantly harped about not
wearing tunic sweaters with skirts, which I still hold true, however you can
wear a long skirt with a nice camel tunic sweater and it will look
fine. If you have some ladies tunic sweaters that fit like a blouse, you can pair it with a long pencil
skirt.
