How to wear a white dress to a wedding if you aren’t the bride

If you are traditional, wearing white dresses to a wedding is taboo.  Times have changed and even brides don’t wear white anymore so anything goes…..to a point.  You don’t want to be the woman in white if the bride is wearing blue, green, or any other color, that’s just tacky.  The main thing is you can wear that white lace dress or long white dress as long as you know it won’t bother the bride or bridal party.  White looks good on a white summer dress, white party dress, or any happy occasion in the spring or summer.  The following advice will help you pull off that look in all white dresses without looking like the bride.

White Print:  If you are skeptical about wearing an all-white dress, try a print.  You can try an all over print in bright colors to take attention away from the white and focus it on the print.  A bold floral print on a simple white dress looks beautiful and bridal.

Style:  If you want to wear a white long dress to a wedding but don’t want it to look like you’re wearing a wedding dress try to avoid tulle and chiffon which just scream “wedding dress”.    You might also avoid low necklines or a strapless short white dress as this may make you look like the bride or a bridesmaid.

Accessorize:  Feel free to center the attention on your accessories rather than the long white dress itself.  Add a colorful clutch, a cameo, and even dress it up with a belt.  All these things plus a nice set of low tone heels will make you look more like a guest and less like a bride.

Always remember, when shopping for white dresses make Fashiondoxy.com your first stop.  You’ll love the selection of white dresses for women as well as accessories, shoes, and bags to match.
