Quick style guide in looking chic in a sweater dress

Sweater dresses for women are versatile and stylish.  You can wear them anywhere but there are certain tricks to pulling off a chic look.  Not every sweater dress will look great on you, this is why we have compiled a quick guide to help you look your best this winter.

The most important thing about finding a great fitting sweater dress is to find one to fit your body type.  Determine the cut and length most flattering to your curves.  You don’t want a form fitting sweater dress if you have lumps and bumps you’d rather hide.  However; you don’t want to look frumpy and chunky in an overly sized sweater dress either.

For example, if you are a big bottom girl, shop for a sweater dress that has details to draw the eye up and away from your curves.  This is where accessories can do the trick.  Find some dangly earrings, put on some red lipstick, and find your favorite statement necklace.  All these things will help draw attention to your face and neck and away from your bottom.

One such sweater dress big bottom ladies could wear is the textured knit skater dress by DKNY at Fashiondoxy.com.  This textured knit dress has a pleated skirt and ribbed edges.  The skirt flares out to give you a bit of extra room at the bottom while giving you a nice comfortable fit up top.  I’d recommend a nice long necklace and earrings with this dress and some subtle heels.  You can add a thin belt if you wish to help separate the top and bottom to make it appear you are wearing separates.

Next, the perfect length should be above the knee.  This will help show more of your leg and give a lean appearance.  There aren’t too many long sweater dresses that fall below the knee but if you are a petite woman you should definitely avoid them as they’ll make you look much shorter than you actually are.  Stay tuned for future posts about other ways to look chic and stylish in long sweaters and knit sweaters for women.
