There
are so many air travel rules to follow, which make it all difficult for any one
person to know and fully understand them. Today, let us clarify the most
important rules pertaining to travel luggage when
taking flights.
Allowed Carry On Items
Travellers
flying within the territories of the United States of America are limited by
the FAA to a single piece of carry on luggage or lightweight luggage, plus one other thing to be brought
along, labeled as “personal item.” Those things with the label of “personal
item” include: hand luggage bags, briefcases, laptop
computers or notebooks, small-sized backpacks and daypacks.
Aside
from the carry on luggage and the personal item,
there are other items allowed to bring on board: a coat, a reading material, a
tiny bag or package as food storage, and health-related devices for personal
use, like a wheelchair or walker. Let us just consider these items as
“accessories.”
All
carry on items must conform to a
pproved specifications and shall not contain any of the prohibited items.
Allowed Checked-in
Luggage
Virtually
all airlines allow every passenger one other bag to be stowed in a different
place of the same plane. This must only be a bag, or a package, or any piece of
luggage, which conforms to specifications and likewise does not contain
prohibited items.
Weight and Size Limits
The
figures presented here are true for almost all of the airlines which retrieved
clearances and necessary documents under US laws. But as always, it is strongly
advised to obtain exact information from the actual airline company where
flight has been booked.
Maximum
measurement for checked-in bags is usually 62 linear inches, while it is only
45 linear inches for carry-on, as earlier stated. All sizes larger than what is
prescribed shall be checked.
40
pounds is the weight restriction on carry-on items. The typical maximum weight
limit for checked-in luggage is 50 pounds.
Everyone
must also be aware that oversize and overweight luggage or package will not be
allowed onboard, either as carry-on or as checked-in item.
Follow the rules for a free-from-fuss flight!
